 — editing the structure of your document —
 

• changes to the order and flow of paragraphs, chapters, sections, entire documents 
• direction on where content needs to be added, deleted, expanded on
• determination of whether permissions are necessary for third-party material
• plot, character, thematic improvements
• other structural issues

RATE INCLUDES: One round of developmental editing, editorial letter, one hour consultation to follow up.

 — editing the stylistic choices in your document —

• paragraph and sentence length and construction
• word choice and usage
• transitions between paragraphs and sentences
• tone and language choice, ensuring choices are appropriate to the topic and audience
• other stylistic issues

RATE INCLUDES: One round of stylistic editing, manuscript with markup (Track Changes and Comments showing in Word document), one hour consultation to follow up.

  
— editing for accuracy and consistency  —

• grammar
• spelling
• punctuation
• capitalization
• use of bullets and numbers
• referencing and citing sources
• placement of headings, tables, figures, and lists
• consistency and logic of internal content

RATE INCLUDES: One round of copy editing, manuscript with markup (Track Changes and Comments showing in Word document), one hour consultation to follow up.

  
—  a final edit after the typesetting/layout has been done   —

• spelling
• punctuation
• grammar
• capitalization
• typography
• formatting
• deviations from style
• other errors or typos 

RATE INCLUDES: One round of proofreading, manuscript with markup (Track Changes and Comments showing in Word document OR markup on PDF), one hour consultation to follow up. 

Please provide me with your copy editor's stylesheet. If you do not have a style sheet, I can create one for you. Extra charges apply.

 — assisting you in readying your print or e-book for publication — 

• FLATE RATE INCLUDES: formatting and converting Word or PDF manuscripts to EPUB files for e-book publication AND
• formatting and readying Word and PDF manuscripts for KDP paperback publication
• * if you wish to learn how to format and/or upload your manuscript to Amazon or IngramSpark for publication, I can also coach you through these processes. My hourly rate applies for this.

I do not offer cover design services, but I have an affiliate agreement with the cover designer I use for my books.

I will use a customized version of the Editor's Association of Canada contract.

I do my edits using Track Changes in Word. At your request, I am also willing to work with PDF files or hard copy. Additional charges may apply for printing, etc.
